Procedure Release Notes Technical Release

In this release we have focused heavily on technical refactoring to make Procedures more stable and faster. This includes a update to Quick Edit Mode, to make editing smoother and more reliable.

Quick Edit Mode Refactoring

When using quick edit, we have made a number of adjustments to give the experience a better flow and make it easier to work with. Here is the refactoring that has been done to ensure editing is faster and more reliable:

  • Field updates and validation
    • Any field can be updated, and valid changes are saved automatically.
    • If required fields (for example Activity fields or step fields like Title, Responsible, Step Code) contain validation errors, updates are blocked until corrected.
    • Other step parameters can still be saved independently, even if required fields have errors.
    • Validation errors are highlighted with error messages below the affected field.

  • Parameter creation and saving
    • Only one new parameter can be added per group at a time. The “Add” button is disabled until the parameter is saved.
    • Once all mandatory fields are filled, the parameter is saved automatically and the layout updates (for example drag-and-drop icon appears).
    • Unsaved parameters cannot be reordered, and existing parameters cannot be moved below an unsaved one.

  • Reordering rules
    • Reordering is disabled within a group if there are validation errors.
    • Reordering within a group is blocked until the previous reorder request is completed.
    • If a reorder fails, the UI reverts to the last valid state.

  • Progress statuses
    • Saving – changes are being written to the database.
    • Changes weren’t saved – the save failed.
    • Changes partially saved; check validation errors – valid changes saved, but invalid ones not.
    • All changes autosaved – everything was successfully saved.

  • Error handling
    • Every failed server request (create, update, delete, reorder) shows a toast notification with an error message.
    • Failed create or update requests leave the parameter in place, highlighted in red.
    • Failed delete requests revert the item back to its last valid state.

  • Exit control
    • Users cannot exit Quick Edit Mode while validation errors or ongoing save/delete/reorder processes exist.
    • Clicking “Exit Quick Edit Mode” while errors exist shows a confirmation dialog.

  • Parallel requests
    • Users can initiate a new change request even if the previous one is still being processed.
