Performance Improvements

In this release, we’ve focused heavily on performance improvements. Some specific issues were identified and fixed. This is part of a broader plan to optimize the application’s performance, making it more stable and responsive.

New PDF Print Service

A new PDF Print Service has been implemented in OPEN to address issues with timeouts and memory leaks in the previous service. The updated service improves performance, reliability, and functionality for printing procedures in PDF.

  • Faster Response Time: PDF generation now completes within a reasonable time, typically under 2 seconds.
  • Preview and Download Support: Both PDF preview and download functions are supported, maintaining the same layout and format as before.
  • Compatibility: The service can be called from any application and supports handling different versions of a timeplan, just like the existing functionality.
  • Comment Control: Users can allow or disallow specific comments, with the PDF reflecting the selected preferences.
  • Fallback Mechanism: If the new PDF service is unavailable, the system automatically defaults to the old PDF solution. A "Use new PDF service" button allows users to switch back if issues arise.

Collected All Code Fields Under One Column

To better manage space, we have put all codes under a single column labeled “code.” This change saves a lot of horizontal space.

Improved Dropdowns Across the Application

We have included typeahead functionality in dropdown lists for Timeplan under Procedures - Actions - Add from existing. The search function now recognizes all words in the list. For example, if “hello” is a word in the list, it will also show when typing “lo”.

Typeahead for Dropdowns in OPEN

We’ve implemented typeahead functionality in dropdown lists to enhance usability and speed up navigation.

  • This feature is available under: Procedures → Actions → Add from Existing.

  • The search function recognizes all words in the list. For example, typing “lo” will display “hello” as a match.

Typeahead Search for Dropdowns in Timeplan Settings

The dropdowns for Rig, Wells, and Previous Timeplan in Timeplan → Settings now include a typeahead search function. Users can quickly find items in extensive lists by typing any part of a word. For example, searching "lo" will display "hello" if it exists in the list. This improvement enhances usability and reduces the time needed to locate specific options.

Comment Type Display

Users can now distinguish between two types of comments in the system:

  • Regular: Functions as before, with the usual options.
  • Lesson Learned: Does not include the "Resolve" option and can only be deleted by the user who created it (note: deletion restrictions will not yet apply in OPEN).

This update helps users identify comment types more clearly.

Highlighting Latecomers in Timeplan

Previously, latecomer tasks were marked in red, but once completed, only the task reverted to black while the activity remained red. This made it difficult to distinguish completed latecomer tasks from originally planned ones. Now, completed latecomer tasks will maintain a distinct marking, ensuring that both activities and tasks remain identifiable as latecomers even after completion. This improvement allows users to clearly see any tasks that were not part of the original plan.

Bug Fixes:

  • The "History" tab now displays the full timeplan history from the start.
  • Deleting checks in procedure templates no longer triggers an error.
  • Report parameter values are no longer included when adding from a template or existing procedure.
  • When downloading a file from attachments, it now retains its original name instead of being renamed with a unique ID.
  • The inconsistent status display between the Report Widget, Procedures, and Rigflow has been corrected.
  • Step check was missing comment icon, that is now fixed.
  • The 'Set Plan to Completed' dialog now appears correctly when editing the Actual Time on the last default activity in the Timeplan. This fix applies specifically to Aker BP, as other customers receive Actual Time from RMS.
